CAIRO, Apr 29 (Aswat Masriya) - Amendments to the laws governing the awaited parliamentary elections have been sent to Egypt's State Council on Wednesday for review, the transitional justice minister said.

All three laws governing the elections have been amended, said Minister of Transitional Justice and the House of Representatives Ibrahim al-Heneidi, who headed the committee tasked with making the amendments.

The State Council is a judicial body that reviews legislative decrees and draft bills.

The amendments have resulted in changes to the number of seats, the minister said. The House of Representatives will have a total of 568 seats,  the vast majority of which are individual seats, while the rest will be elected by party lists.

Parliamentary elections were scheduled to take place over two phases, in late March and late April.

They were, however, postponed when the the Supreme Constitutional Court decided against the constitutionality of two of the legislations governing the poll, in decisions that came a week apart in early March.

A new date for elections has not been set yet, awaiting amendments to the elections law.

But Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Monday that parliamentary elections will not take place before the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
