CAIRO, Oct 15 (Aswat Masriya) - A bomb went off out near the Supreme Court in downtown Cairo on Tuesday night.

Explosives experts moved to the explosion scene to identify the cause of the explosion and the losses it left behind, reported state-run news agency MENA.

Abdel Fattah Othman, the ministry of interior's media official, told state television that the explosion caused minor injuries among a number of citizens.

The explosion left 12 injured, a health ministry official told Reuters.

Bombings and shootings have surged since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Mursi last year.

Major attacks, mainly targeting security forces and installations, have been mostly claimed by radical Al-Qaida-inspired groups based in the Sinai Peninsula.
