The funeral of Major General Nabil Farrag was held at Aal Rashdan Mosque in Cairo following Friday's noon prayer.

Farrag was killed on Thursday in an attack on Kerdasa’s police station in Giza.

Television footage showed hundreds taking part in the funeral as they chanted, "The people, the police, and the army stand united".

Egypt's Interior Ministry, backed by army forces, prepared to storm Kerdasa district after the prosecution ordered the arrest of some terrorist elements involved in the attempt to break into the police station.

Farrag was killed and nine other policemen were injured on Thursday in the attack. The police managed to arrest 68 wanted people, some of whom are perpetrators involved in a previous attack on Kerdasa police station on August 14.
