CAIRO, Dec 22 (Aswat Masriya) - "Terrorist" elements opened fire Monday morning at an armed forces' row officer in al-Marg district north-east of Cairo, Mohamed Samir, army spokesman said.

The officer was heading to work, when "terrorist" elements on a motorbike fired multiple shots at him. He suffered injures in several parts of his body, and was transferred to a military hospital for treatment, Samir added.

Militants have stepped up attacks targeting the army and police across Egypt, particularly in Sinai, since the military's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule.
