CAIRO, Jan 20 (Aswat Masriya) The Egyptian army arrested nine "terrorists" on
Monday during a security campaign in Northern Sinai, the army spokesman said in a statement.

The armed forces have enhanced their efforts in the lawless peninsula since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi last year to abort terrorist activities that have increased substantially.

The attacks have left 175 security personnel dead while 185 extremists were killed.

The security forces destroyed 15 huts that were "used by terrorists to launch their attacks against the police and the army," according to the army spokesman.

He added that the forces demolished eight tunnels in Rafah that were used "used to smuggle people and goods."
