CAIRO, June 22 (Aswat Masriya) A Heliopolis prosecutor ordered that 24 people, including seven women, be detained for 24 hours on Sunday for protesting on Saturday against the country's protest law, pending state security and intelligence investigations.
Police forces arrested a number of protesters on Saturday as they were on their way to the presidential palace in a march against the protest law, a security source had said.
The protesters clashed with unknown persons before the police intervened with teargas to disperse them.
A protest law passed in November compels Egyptians to inform the authorities of their intentions to assemble three days prior to their events.
