Egypt’s Interior Ministry said on Monday that 396 of its members have been injured in the past 10 days in violence that erupted in light of demonstrations to mark the 2011 revolt that toppled Hosni Mubarak.

The ministry’s statement added that the injured included 103 police officers, 26 army recruits and 267 conscripts with wounds that varied from shots to eye injuries.

President Mohamed Mursi will meet with heads of the police force on Monday to discuss recent security-related issues in Egypt, reported the state news agency.

Many have recently criticized Egypt’s police apparatus for mistreating citizens especially after an aired footage of a man being attacked and stripped naked by riot police.

Recent clashes have left sixty civilians dead and dozens injured in a wave of violence that is the worst since Mursi's election as president.
