CAIRO, April 25 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian authorities closed Tahrir Square to traffic on Friday ahead of protests supporting ousted President Mohamed Mursi.
Armed forces and tanks could be seen blocking roads leading to the square early on Friday, an eyewitness said.
The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, which groups Mursi and Muslim Brotherhood supporters, had called for demonstrations starting Friday against what they described as "state crimes against Sinai."
Mursi supporters have held regular demonstrations since the army overthrew him in July following mass demonstrations against his rule.
