Egypt's main stock index drops by 6.26 pct

CAIRO, Feb 12 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt main and secondary stock market indices dropped in trading over the past week, as capital market shares of listed companies lost EGP 14.7 billion, Egypt's stock exchange weekly report cited by state-run MENA.

The report said the main stock index EGX 30 fell by 6.26 per cent last week reaching 5,814 points, down from 6,202 the week before.

The EGX 70 for small and medium shares fell by 0.57 per cent reaching 347 points compared to 349 points at the start of the week. 

The broader  EGX 100 retreated by 1.72 per cent to reach 696 points, down from 708 recorded before trading kicked off this week.

The report revealed that the bourse made losses amounting to EGP 14.7 billion, where the capital market shares of listed companies reached EGP 385.9 billion instead of EGP 400.6 billion the week before.
