Health Ministry says six injured in Giza blast

CAIRO, Feb 7 (Aswat Masriya) - The number of people injured in a blast the occurred on the Giza flyover on Friday morning rose to six, Egypt's Health Ministry said in a statement.

The blast targeted a police force stationed on the flyover, an official at the ministry's media centre wrote on Facebook.

The statement said that all six were taken to hospital for treatment, yet it did not clarify whether civilians were among the wounded or not.

Two police officers and two conscripts were injured in the blast, the Interior Ministry said.

"Such terrorist acts will not tamper with the safety and security of this country," said Egypt's Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawi.

Bomb squads and civil defence teams inspected to the site of the explosion.

Blasts targeting security forces have increased in intensity since former President Mohamed Mursi was deposed last July following mass protests against his ruling.
