CAIRO, Jan 30 (Aswat Masriya) - A police officer and a driver were injured on Friday when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting security forces went off in Alexandria, an Alexandria security official said.

Unidentified assailants planted the IED in Alexandria's al-Agami district, the source said, adding that the IED went off in conjunction with the passing of the security forces.

Another simultaneous blast took place in Alexandria's al-Wardian district, the source added. No casualties were reported.

Shop fronts and cars were damaged due to the explosion, an eye-witness in Wardian said.

Security forces cordoned off the explosion site, and sealed off the road. Patrols and explosives' experts were also deployed in Agami to search for further IEDs.
