CAIRO, Jan 6 (Aswat Masriya) - The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, an Islamist coalition, called on Monday for escalating protests in support of deposed President Mohamed Mursi who is scheduled to stand trial on Wednesday.

Mursi, who was ousted by the military on July 3 following mass protests against his rule, is due to appear in court this week on charges of inciting violence and killing demonstrators.

"The coup has collapsed and we are waiting for victory. Let the days of rage continue. We will gather in masses inside and outside of Egypt on Wednesday to support the president in an unpreceded million-man protest across the country," the Islamist alliance said in a statement.
