CAIRO, Oct 9 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri is scheduled to hold talks Thursday with his Sudanese counterpart Ali Karti regarding regional and international issues of common interest and to promote cooperation between Cairo and Khartoum.

Karti arrived in Cairo Wednesday evening to reinforce joint cooperation and discuss the Nile water issue at forefront of the most important issues between the two countries.

Shoukri met with the Sudanese foreign minister on the sidelines of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where they agreed on the need to develop trade relations, which serve the common interest of the two peoples.

Karti's visit paves the way for a projected visit by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to Cairo at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who visited Khartoum late June, Sudanese "Shorouk" Network said Tuesday.
