Egyptian Prime Minister, Hisham Kandil, launched on Wednesday a new initiative to communicate "directly" with citizens online through social network websites.

"Despite all the efforts exerted by the cabinet since it assumed office, citizens know little about the reality of these efforts and only the negative image is within reach," Kandil said in a recorded speech, published on his official Facebook page.

The Prime Minister added, "We decided to establish a direct channel between the government and the people where we share suggestions, opinions and also criticisms."

The aim of this initiative is to respond to the people's inquiries on a weekly basis via websites such as Twitter and Facebook.

"I know that we will not agree on everything. There will still be many criticisms, but I promise that whatever your inquiries are, I will respond to them sincerely and transparently," Kandil said addressing the people.
