Blast targets Egyptian prosecutor general's motorcade

CAIRO, Jun 29 (Aswat Masriya) - A blast targeted the motorcade of Egypt's prosecutor general on Monday, injuring the prosecutor general and three other people, sources and state media reported. 

Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdelghaffar said the size of Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat's injuries could not yet be determined, since he was transferred to the hospital "late". 

Mohamed Abdel Sadiq, a member of the prosecutor general's technical office earlier told Aswat Masriya that Barakat was injured in the attack.

The state news agency MENA cited a security source as saying that Barakat's injuries were "minor".

A high level security source said the blast left two security personnel and one civilian injured, MENA reported. 

The injured have been hospitalised, the source added. 

Zakaria Abdel Aziz Othman, the assistant prosecutor general told state radio that a car suddenly exploded near the prosecutor general's motorcade. 

Barakat's office, the country's High Court Building has been targeted before. In March, a bomb exploded in front of the main gate of the building in central Cairo, killing two and leaving nine injured.
