CAIRO, July 31 (Aswat Masriya) Daylight saving time (DST) will be restored on Thursday, announced the Egyptian cabinet.
The clock will shift one hour forward starting Thursday midnight, following the end of Eid al-Fitr, a religious holiday which marks the end of fasting in Ramadan, which is celebrated by the Muslim majority in Egypt.
DST was abolished three years earlier, following the January uprising, but the decision to restore it came in order to alleviate Egypt's energy crisis, explained the government.
