Al Jazeera journalist Abdullah al-Shamy to be released today - brother

CAIRO, June 17 (Aswat Masriya) Abdullah al-Shamy, an Egyptian journalist who had been on hunger strike for over 100 days, is expected to be released on Tuesday in accordance with an order from the country's top prosecutor, his brother told Aswat Masriya.
Egypt's prosecutor-general Hisham Barakat ordered the release of Shamy on medical grounds late on Monday.
Shamy, and 12 others, were arrested on August 14 during the dispersal of two sit-ins held in support of ousted President Mohamed Mursi.
Shamy's lawyer also expects the journalist to be freed later today from a Nasr City police station.
In a Facebook post, Mosa'ab al-Shamy thanked everybody who stood in solidarity with his brother until he was released. He particularly thanked activists Leila Suef and Aida Saif al-Dawla who began a hunger strike a few weeks ago in solidarity with the young journalist.
