CAIRO, May 17 (Aswat Masriya) The campaign of presidential hopeful Abdel Fattah al-Sisi began distributing 300,000 energy-saving lamps to citizens on Saturday morning, a member of the campaign said.

Tarek al-Kholy told Aswat Masriya that the distribution will take place in Cairo and eight other governorates along with flyers to encourage Egyptians to save energy.

Tarek Nour, the campaign's manager told Aswat Masriya last week that until now 12 million Egyptian pounds have been spent on conferences and advertisement.

Fuel and power shortages have become popular in Egypt since the January 25 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak in 2011.

Egyptians will vote between Sisi and leftist politician Hamdeen Sabahi next week.
