CAIRO, Jul 29 (Aswat Masriya) - Unidentified assailants killed a conscript securing the embassy of Niger in Cairo in a drive-by shooting incident early Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said.

The attack also injured two security personnel and an Egyptian embassy employee, the ministry said in a statement. Those injured were transferred to hospital for treatment.

Bombings and shootings targeting security forces have surged since the military ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, following mass protests against his rule.

Attacks in general target security forces but civilians have been affected.

The vast majority of attacks have taken place in North Sinai, although other parts of the country have been hit.
