Egypt implements developmental projects in Nile Basin countries

Egypt is currently implementing various developmental projects in South Sudan, minister of water resources and irrigation said on Thursday.

The projects in Sudan include cleansing waterways and drilling water wells as well as implementing several projects worth more than $65 million in Uganda, Tanzania, Congo and other countries, minister Mohamed Bahaa ElDine stated.

Egypt insists on cooperation with the Nile Basin countries based coordination and mutual benefit, Bahaa ElDine said.

The minister added that Egypt backs all developmental plans for the Nile Basin countries so long as they do not threaten its national water security.

Egypt always supports fair usage of the Nile water, the minister said.
