Mursi trial over palace clashes adjourned to next week

CAIRO, April 6 (Aswat Masriya) A Cairo criminal court adjourned on Sunday the trial of ousted President Mohamed Mursi and 14 others over presidential palace clashes to April 12 to continue to listen to testimonies.
The court barred the press from attending any of the eyewitness hearings in this case to prevent manipulation or threats to national security.
Clashes between Mursi's supporters and opponents near the presidential palace in Heliopolis in December 2012 resulted in the death of at least ten people.
The clashes followed a decree issued by the Muslim Brotherhood's Mursi, which his opponents described as "dictatorial".
Also standing trial in this case are Brotherhood leaders Essam al-Erian and Mohamed al-Beltagy.
Mursi is also standing trial on accusations of escaping prison and spying in collaboration with foreign bodies.
