CAIRO, Jul 29 (Aswat Masriya) - An Egyptian man died on Wednesday in an attempt to jump from one train to another in a train station in the French capital Paris, a French security source said.
The Egyptian national was an illegal immigrant, the state news agency MENA said.
In his attempt to jump onto the train, he fell and has sustained electric shocks.
He succumbed to his injury in a Paris hospital.
Some Egyptians resort to illegal immigration in search for better opportunities abroad, either crossing by land to neighbouring Arab countries or risking their lives in an unsafe journey in the Mediterranean to reach Europe.
The Cairo-based Regional Center for Strategic Studies said that there is a link between poverty and immigration through illegal channels, in a report on illegal immigration across the Middle East, published in February.
The centre said "a larger percentage of Egyptian illegal immigrants come from poorer provinces."
