The border that divides Egypt and Israel - Mohamed Abdel Wahab/Reuters
Egypt's General Intelligence Service arrested an Egyptian on Saturday on charges of spying for Israel's Mossad.
He would be detained for 15 days pending investigation, the presiding judge said.
The accused, an employee in a private company, has been working for the Mossad since 2011, according to the state prosecution.
The prosecution added that the accused had filed complaints saying that Israel was trying to recruit him for espionage in 2012, which the prosecution believed was an attempt to hide his involvement and secure his position before the authorities.
