A security source told Egypt's state news agency on Wednesday that security forces have arrested four men who allegedly cut a man’s finger off for trying to steal purses at the Rabaa al-Adaweya demonstration.

Islamists have gathered by the Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque since the ouster of President Mohamed Mursi to demand that he return to power.

The source said that police forces captured the suspects earlier on Monday with the victim who was beaten and missing the index finger of his right hand.

The victim accused the suspects of attacking him and cutting off his finger after taking him from the protest to a remote area.
