Egypt's government and the World Bank on Thursday agreed on speeding up the implementation of service projects that provide job opportunities especially in the sectors of energy, water, sanitation and agriculture, the Middle East News Agency reported.

The World Bank supports the endeavours of countries that aim to reduce poverty and achieve prosperity, Hartwig Schafer, the World Bank's Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti, said.

Egypt has a special set of features that qualify it to become an emerging economic power in the region, Schafer stated.

The World Bank's portfolio in Egypt is the biggest in the Middle East North Africa region with 23 projects and 43 grants from special funds.
