Several thousands of protesters took to the streets on Sunday afternoon, heading to Cairo’s Tahrir Square to participate in protests supporting the military's decision that deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi on Wednesday.

The protesters rallied from Mostafa Mahmoud Mosque in Cairo's Mohandessin, Shubra district and the Journalists' syndicate downtown, carrying Egypt's flags and chanting against the Muslim Brotherhood and the American administration.

Another huge rally started marching from Heliopolis's Hegaz Square to the Ittihadiya Presidential Palace in support of the army's intervention against Mursi.

Confrontations between opponents and supporters left at least 30 people dead on Friday.
