CAIRO, July 12 (Aswat Masriya) -  An Armed Forces food and medical aid convoy arrived at the Rafah Crossing in North Sinai on Saturday before it reaches the Gaza Strip.

Egypt’s army said on Friday that it will send 500 tons of food and medical supplies to Gaza after the Israeli army shelled Gaza and killed at least 100 Palestinians and injured hundreds.

Egypt also urged international parties to aid Palestinians and demand that Israel halts its attack on Palestinian civilians and commits to a 2012 truce.

The country closely monitors the situation in the Palestinian territories in light of the continuing Israeli military operations, the Foreign Ministry said.

Egypt is exerting all efforts to prevent the bloodshed and is communicating with all concerned parties to contain the crisis, a ministry statement said.

Earlier today, Egypt opened the crossing to receive injured Palestinians and to allow the convoy into the Palestinian territories.
