Violence flared up in Beheira's Kafr al-Dawwar City between supporters and opponents of Mohamed Mursi on Tuesday evening.

Twenty-one people were injured on Tuesday evening, some of whom were wounded by birdshots.

Most injuries were among Mursi's opponents, an Aswat Masriya eyewitness reported.

Hundreds of pro-Mursi demonstrators had planned to march from al-Kobri al-Olwi Bridge while thousands of anti-Mursi protesters staged a march in the same area.

A pro-Mursi march was expected to set out from Nasser Mosque in Damanhour but anti-Mursi demonstrators gathered to stop the march before it started.

Six security vehicles were present in the area to prevent the outbreak of clashes, an eyewitness reported.
