Ex-presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi has announced the formation of the “Egyptian Popular Current” which he, along with a wide range of youths, movements and national powers, worked on to develop its main features.

“The voices of the five million who voted for me during the elections represent a real popular current in the street. It represents all spectra of society and only needs to be organised in order to work on realising the revolution’s goals through a developmental socio-political project,” Sabahi said in a statement obtained by Aswat Masriya.

Sabahi pointed out that he is one of the people who call for joining this current along with many youths and national figure. He explained that he is not the head of this current yet he will participate in the calls for joining it.

Sabahi called on every intellectual and revolutionary who wants to build Egypt and does not belong to a specific party to join this popular current.

He added that the current might become a party later but only if its founders agree to do that.
