Deputy Head of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, Essam al-Erian, said on Wednesday that the Party's legal committee is currently holding a meeting to discuss the merits of the court order to suspend the parliamentary elections, issued earlier on Wednesday.

Erian said on his Facebook page that the court order displays a new concept of sovereignty in the constitution, subtracting the powers of the president.

"The verdict gives the Constitutional Court a legislative function, which is not in its essential jurisdiction, meaning an overlap between the authorities," He added.

The Constitutional Court has already reinstated the election law to the Shura Council (upper house of the parliament) as some of its articles were unconstitutional, forcing the Shura Council to amend it.  The Shura Council then sent it directly to the President without referring the law to the Constitutional Court after the amendments. 

Erian pointed to the political implications of the court order and the presidency's intention to challenge it.

He said the Freedom and Justice Party would consult with other Political Parties on how to deal with the verdict and its implications.

Erian called on the political forces to prepare for the elections "because it will happen," he said adding, "When the arguments end, there will not be any excuses for anyone not to go to polls."
