CAIRO, Jan 16 (Aswat Masriya) - The turnout of voting on the constitution signals a definite rejection of terrorism and an acknowledgement of a popular will to generate economic and social development, said Ehab Badawi, the Egyptian presidency's spokesman.

Unofficial results of the constitutional referendum that took place on Tuesday and Wednesday show that the 'yes' vote count amounts to more than 97% of all cast votes in most cities.

Commenting on the high turnout of voters, Badawi said that the preliminary results point to how Egyptians wrote a new chapter in history.

In spite of the country's extraordinary circumstances, this is a remarkable day for Egypt, Egyptians, and democracy, Badawi stated.

The Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections is expected to announce the poll's official results within three days from the end of the referendum.
