Arrangements are underway for the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Kamel Amr, to visit Ethiopia in the upcoming days, in order to discuss the most recent developments in the Nile waters file, a diplomatic source said.

Ethiopia has started diverting the course of the Blue Nile, one of the main tributaries of the Nile river, to build its Renaissance Dam, which raised concerns in Egypt over its water supply as a downstream country.

The date of the visit is not determined yet, but there are ongoing tripartite consultations between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia in order to reach a settlement for water crisis, reported the state-owned news agency.

The Ethiopian government said on Friday that the process of building a dam on the Nile is "non-negotiable", after confrontations escalated with Cairo over the project.

Egypt has said earlier this week that it would demand the project be halted, after Addis Ababa began the process of building its $4.7 billion dam project.

Ethiopia said it had summoned the Egyptian ambassador to provide an explanation for the statements made ??by politicians in Cairo, where they advised President Mohamed Mursi to take hostile action to abort the construction of the dam.
