Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said on Saturday that the main mission of the police is to maintain security for the people, stressing that it rejects any assault on the police or attempt to politicize it.

The political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood said in a statement issued on Saturday that the police belong to the people of Egypt, it should not stand with one party against the other.

Police officers are striking in different governorates of Egypt, denouncing the policies of the Interior Ministry that pushes them into political confrontations that they have no relation to.
The police officers demand sacking the Interior Minister and providing them with better protection through armoring them with weapons to defend themselves against the dangers they are subject to.

They also demand being granted an immunity, like judges.

The police officers threaten an escalation if their demands are not met.

FJP said that it adopts the demands of the police in order to enable it perform its tasks and that it supports bettering the circumstances of police officers so that they can maintain their national role.

The Party pointed to the necessity of equipping the police so that it can protect installations and enforce the law, with an emphasis on shielding human rights.

The Brotherhood's Party said that those who attack police stations and security directorates are the ones who want to drag Egypt into chaos. It blamed those who adopt violence as a political cover for the absence of the police from the streets.

FJP stressed that the right to peaceful demonstrations does not mean assaulting police stations or public and private property.
