CAIRO, Mar 22 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's presidency has approved the immunisation of the Supreme Presidential Election Commission against appeals on its decisions, the president's constitutional advisor said.

The presidency's decision comes in response to suggestions by some parties that demand the amendment of the presidential election law, said Ali Awad on Saturday.

President Adli Mansour has met earlier this month with several party heads, including former presidential contender Hamdeen Sabahi, to discuss the immunisation of the commission's decisions.

In a written response, the presidency stated that it cannot support these demands in light of the current transitional phase, the Middle East News Agency reported Awad as saying.

It also said that its decision came after consulting the constitutional court's general assembly and that the immunisation is backed by the constitution.
