CAIRO, July 31 (Aswat Masriya) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has provided Egypt with funds of 150 million Egyptian pounds for the establishment of government schools across the country, MENA reported Local Development Minister Adel Labib as saying on Thursday.

Labib added that the budget allocated for building new 100 schools became 550 million Egyptian pounds after UAE's offer.

The minister explained that 22 schools will be built in villages where they are most needed and 78 will be built in the rest of the governorates, within a plan of development.

The new school year will start on September 20, the education minister told the Ahram Portal on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have also provided Egypt with an aid of $3 billion following the military's ouster of President Mohamed Mursi, making the total worth of aids from gulf countries to Egypt $12 million.
