Egypt's Transport Minister Mohamed Rashad al-Matini announced on Saturday his resignation from his post out of his political responsibility for today's Assiut bus-train crash.

Before resigning, the minister accepted the resignation of the head of railways Mostafa Qenawi and referred him to investigation, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

Forty children of Dar Heraa School were killed after their school bus collided with a train while it was trying to cross the tracks in Assiut's Manfalout at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.
