The National Council for Women signed a cooperation protocol with the Consumer Protection Agency, to raise women's awareness on consumer rights and how to claim them.

The Council noted that some exploitative traders, due to the economic conditions that the country is going through, are raising the prices of vital commodities, pointing out that women represent the largest purchasing power in society.

Mervat El Tallawy, President of the National Council for Women, said that the Council and the Agency aim to achieve food security and the provision of goods at reasonable prices. Their goal is to limit the exploitation of some traders, noting that the media is the third party to achieve these objectives through raising awareness around this subject.

The Protocol aim to build bridges between the Council and the Consumer Protection Agency through organizing training courses to educate women on their rights in that regard women in all governorates. These trainings will be held in all the branches of the Council and the Agency nationwide. They will also receive women's complaints regarding the field of consumer protection.
