CAIRO, May 23 (Aswat Masriya) - A homemade bomb exploded on Friday afternoon next to al-Salam Mosque in Cairo's Nasr City amid attempts of security forces to disperse a pro-Muslim Brotherhood march.

No one was injured in the explosion.

A man blew up the bomb during the march as security forces attempted to disperse the demonstrators, Major General Sami Youssef, an Interior Ministry official, told the Middle East News Agency.

Security forces are sweeping the area to ensure no other bombs were planted, he added.

The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy has called on its supporters to stage demonstrations on Friday and to escalate their protest during the two-day voting process.

The call is part of the coalition's campaign to boycott the presidential election which it called "a farce".
