Final ballot results show that in Damietta 64.4 percent (205, 472 people) have voted for the new draft constitution while 35.6 percent (113, 57) have voted against it.

The total number of votes in the governorate was 322, 976, with 3, 934 invalid.

The second round of the referendum on Egypt's new constitution took place on Saturday, December 22, whereas the first round took place last Saturday.

The preliminary results of the two-stage referendum show that the majority of Egyptians agree to the controversial charter that was written by an Islamist-dominated assembly.
