President Adli Mansour issued a decree awarding the Order of the Nile to the late Egyptian president Mohamed Naguib and to Khaled Mohi al-Din, a member of the 1952 Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council.

The Order of the Nile is the highest state honour given to those who made a distinctive contribution to Egypt.

The award, made of pure gold, is also given to heads of state and Egyptians who provide exceptional services to the country.

Nobel laureates Naguib Mahfouz, Ahmed Zewail and Mohamed ElBaradei were among those who were awarded the order.
