A local initiative announced that it will monitor sexual harassment on Easter holidays on Monday and document crimes of sexual violence against women.

In response to the hike in verbal and sexual harassment during the holidays, the "Shoft Taharosh" (I Saw Harassment) initiative has launched a campaign under the slogan “United for safe holidays for women.”

The initiative said in a statement that it will be working on Monday along the Nile Corniche, starting from the district of Shubra to Qasr Al-Nil Bridge.

The initiative will provide a “Safe Car” service to offer safe transportation to girls and women who are subjected to any form of sexual abuse during Easter celebrations.

The "I Saw Harassment" initiative was launched in November to counter sexual harassment and abuse through forming rescue teams to prevent them.

The volunteer-based initiative has a team that patrols the streets to keep an eye on harassers and provide victims with free legal and emotional support.
