Dozens of residents of Cairo's Ramlet Boulak cut off both directions of the road to the Nile's Courniche in front of the state TV building (Maspero) on Tuesday protesting that they have not received alternative housing for their homes thus far.
Residents of Ramlet Boulak demanded sacking Cairo's governor and his deputy, reported the Middle East News Agency.
According to the residents, the deputy governor has set Tuesday as a date to discuss handing over to them alternative housing but he refused to receive them when they arrived at his office.
The residents of the area have protested before against the attempts to evict them by the government and the 'non-humane' living conditions in Ramlet Boulak as they are not provided with water or an adequate sewage system.
