Giza governor announces compensation for victims of Faisal blast

CAIRO, Dec. 27 (Aswat Masriya) – Giza Governor Kamal Al-daly announced the provision of remuneration for the family of the victims of the blast that took place in Faisal on Sunday as well as temporary accommodation for the residents of the damaged building.

In collaboration with the ministry of social solidarity, the governorate will provide compensation worth EGP 10,000 for the family of the deceased and EGP 4,000 for the injured.

The explosion that took place near a gas station in the Giza neighborhood of Faisal on Sunday resulted in the death of two women and left 12 wounded.

In statements to MENA news agency, Al-daly announced that two buildings adjacent to the damaged one will be evacuated.

The governor, as well the Giza Security Director Ahmed Hegazy, visited those injured from the blast in Al-haram and Al-balegh hospitals. Prosecution investigators also visited the injured to ask for their testimonies and retrieve information regarding the incident.  

Assistant to the Interior Minister Major General Ahmed Hegazy told state newspaper Al-Ahram that the source of the blast remains unknown.

The General Prosecution entrusted security forces to undertake necessary investigations into the cause of Sunday’s blast, and appointed criminal evidence and bomb experts to inspect and analyse the scene of the explosion.

In addition, a technical committee was formed by order of the Prosecution to inspect the building and evaluate whether it would be suitable for other residents to continue inhabiting it.

Preliminary inspection revealed that the blast led to the destruction of the entrance and the front of the building, and caused damage to surrounding vehicles and shops.
