Former Tourism Minister Zuhair Garana and former Housing Minister Ahmed al-Marghaby, who both served under toppled President Hosni Mubarak, were released on Wednesday after a court cleared them of corruption charges.
A security source told Egypt's state news agency MENA on Wednesday that the two ex-ministers were discharged on Wednesday from Torah Prison, where Mubarak and his aides are kept, to begin release procedures.
They were taken to Cairo's investigations office for a final check to confirm that they are not involved in any other charges.
A prosecutor decided their release after they were ordered to pay one million Egyptian pound pending an investigation in charges of facilitating the illegal transfer of property to ex-regime leaders and squandering public funds.
