Egypt's constituent assembly elects Amr Mousa to be its head

Former presidential candidate Amr Moussa was elected on Sunday as head of Egypt's 50-member constituent drafting committee that is assigned to review amendments of the suspended constitution.

Thirty members voted for Moussa whereas 16 voted for the chairman of the lawyer's syndicate Sameh Ashour as two members abstained and two were absent.

The constituent assembly is set finalize its work within 60 days as part of the army's road map to restore democracy after the ousting of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.
