Under the slogan “Train for the Cure,” the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt (BCFE), in collaboration with “Train for Aim” team organized a festival on Friday to raise awareness about the disease.

Dozens of Egyptians turned up at Cairo’s Gezira Sporting Club to participate in the celebration that aimed at highlighting the role of sports in increasing cure rates.

In its ninth annual event, BCFE urged women to learn more about breast cancer through early detection methods.

The percentage of breast cancer cases of all cancer cases reached 37.5 percent in Egypt, according to statistics by the BCFE.

The fair started with walking and cycling then it was followed by running, jumping and practicing breathing and fitness exercises.

The event organizers presented Zumba fitness dance and spinning trainings by qualified trainers throughout the day to stress upon the importance of healthy lifestyles in reducing the risk of the disease.

“Three cancer types can be prevented by having a healthy weight, a healthy diet and being physically active,” said the BCFE chairman and professor of surgical oncology, Mohamed Shaalan.

The event concluded by providing clinical examinations and mammography for the club's members and employees.
