ABU DHABI, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Egypt will reverse its decision to ban the export of its medium-grain rice for a year and could sell up to 1 million tonnes on the international market this season, an official of the agricultural export council said.
"We are waiting for the announcement of the official price at which the government will buy the rice from farmers to estimate exact quantities," Mustafa al-Naggari, who heads the rice committee of the agricultural export council said.
Egypt had said on Aug. 27 it would ban rice exports as of Sept. 1 to satisfy domestic consumption. (Reporting by Maha El Dahan, editing by Louise Heavens)
