Swine flu deaths rise to 24, 195 patients held in hospital

CAIRO, Feb 4 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt’s health ministry has announced that 24 people died from the swine flu during this winter, scientifically known as the H1N1 virus.

The ministry has monitored at least 273 case since October, 195 were diagnosed with the virus since December, Health Minister Maha al-Rabat said in a press conference on Tuesday.  

Rabat said that there were no cases of bird flu since April 2013.

She told a state newspaper that the deceased do not include doctors.

Rabat added that only two doctors were diagnosed, one has recovered and the other is under treatment and in a stable condition.

The World Health Organization has confirmed the news, explaining that it is working with the Egyptian authorities to monitor the situation.
