Pro-Mursi sit-in continues at Rabaa al-Adaweya Square on July 30, 2013 - Ahmed Hamed/Aswat Masriya
Security forces blocked the Nahda Square in Giza to traffic on Sunday ahead of protests announced by the Muslim Brotherhood.
The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, that groups supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi, had called for demonstrations to express its frustration with putting the deposed president on trial.
Security forces have closed the roads leading to Nahda with barbed wire and barriers and deployed personnel and tanks in the area, reported the state news agency MENA.
Egypt's army ousted Mursi on July 3 in response to mass demonstrations asking for his resignation.
Mursi has been detained in an unknown location since his removal from power but will stand trial on Monday on allegations that he incited violence.
