CAIRO, Jan 14 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi will visit the United Arab Emirates on the 18 and 19 of January, where he is scheduled to take part in the World Future Energy Summit, the presidency announced on Wednesday.

The visit aims at showing Egypt's appreciation for the support of the UAE after the mass protests that took place on June 30, 2013 against Islamist President Mohamed Mursi's rule and consequently led to his ouster by the military, according to a statement by the presidency.

Egypt has received around four billion dollars in grants, loans and petroleum from the UAE since Mursi's ouster. Last August, the UAE announced that it would provide $8.7 billion worth of petroleum until September 2015.

"The UAE has not only supported Egypt financially, but also through a strong will to implement projects that push for comprehensive development in Egypt," the statement read.

The World Future Energy Summit will be held in Abu Dhabi next week, from January 19 to 22.

Since the summer of 2012, Egypt has been facing its worst energy crisis in years, with power outages on the rise. Power cuts have specifically surged since the start of last summer.

Egypt began talks with several investors about building coal-fired power plants in November of last year, and in April the cabinet approved the industrial use of coal.

Producing renewable energy is among the recent projects Egypt's government has adopted to face the energy crisis the country is currently going through.
